DISTANCE EDUCATION POLICY

Lester Beauty Academy (LBA) may, with prior TDLR authorization, offer distance learning for a portion of the theory hours within each program. This allows students to complete approved online coursework from home while maintaining close supervision by instructors. Distance learning is provided only through approved educational platforms that meet state standards for attendance verification and progress tracking.

Founder & Director, Lester’s Beauty Academy

Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Dana Lester discovered her passion for beauty at just seven years old. While styling the hair of her mother’s friends, she realized her natural gift for making people feel confident and beautiful. That early spark became the foundation of a career that has now spanned more than 30 years.

Dana earned her cosmetology license in Florida, training under the respected Jerry Shaw. Early in her career, she gained recognition by winning second place in the Broward County Hair Show Fantasy Battle, a milestone that inspired her to continue growing her skills.

Her journey led her to Atlanta, Georgia, where she served as an educator for Design Essentials. There, she trained licensed professionals, demonstrated advanced techniques on major platforms, and played a valuable role in the development of the Design Essentials color line by collaborating with a chemist and contributing creative color names.

Dana also worked as an independent contractor with the Georgia-Pacific photography department, styling models and well-known actors for advertising campaigns and commercials.

After the passing of her mother, Kay Frances, Dana returned home to Austin. She rebuilt her clientele as an independent contractor, focusing on healthy hair care and continuing to share her expertise as an educator. Her dedication to teaching has resulted in every student she has mentored successfully passing the TDLR state exam.

When the cosmetology school where she taught unexpectedly closed, Dana made a life-changing decision. Determined to continue her passion for education and mentorship, she founded Lester’s Beauty Academy—a place where aspiring cosmetologists, barbers, and nail technicians can receive high-quality training, discover their confidence, and master their craft in the beauty industry.

Today, Lester’s Beauty Academy stands as a testament to Dana’s commitment to excellence, creativity, and the empowerment of future beauty professionals.
