You'll complete your first 450 hours through remote learning, mastering theory on your own schedule. Then, you’ll transition to our campus to hone your skills with hands-on training. It’s the perfect blend of convenience and essential practical experience, designed to help you succeed both in and out of the classroom.

Your Weekly Advantage: PSI Mondays

At Lester's Beauty Academy, we dedicate every Monday to in-person review and hands-on practice for the TDLR licensing exam, following completion of 20% of the online theory. PSI Mondays are a mandatory component of our program for all students, whether you are in the theory or practical phase of your training. This focused, weekly session provides the extra repetition and expert feedback needed to build confidence and ensure you are fully prepared to pass your state board exam on the first attempt.

Lester's Beauty Academy: Master Barber Curriculum

1. Barbering Sciences & Safety (200+ Hours)

Topics Covered: Bacteriology, Sanitation, Disinfection, and Sterilization (TDLR Rules), Safety & First Aid, Chemistry of Barbering Products, Anatomy & Physiology of the Head, Neck, and Skin, Properties of Hair and Scalp.

Learning Outcome: You will master the critical safety and scientific principles that protect you and your clients, ensuring a clean, safe, and professional barbershop environment essential for passing TDLR inspections.

2. Master Hair Cutting & Styling (400+ Hours)

Topics Covered: Clipper Cutting, Shears-Over-Comb, Scissor-Over-Comb, Tapering, Fading, Texturizing, Thinning; Men's & Boys' Haircutting & Styling; Beard and Mustache Trimming & Design; Blow-Drying and Thermal Styling.

Learning Outcome: You will gain comprehensive proficiency in all classic and contemporary barbering techniques, enabling you to execute precise haircuts and facial hair designs that meet client specifications.

3. The Art of the Shave & Facial Services (150+ Hours)

Topics Covered: Traditional Straight Razor Shaving, Beard and Mustache Shaping with a Razor, Preparation of the Face and Neck (Steam Towels, Pre-Shave Oils, Lathering), Safety and Sanitation for Shaving Services, Honing and Stropping.

Learning Outcome: You will be skilled in providing a traditional, luxurious straight-razor shave and expert facial hair grooming, a hallmark of a master barber.

4. Chemical Services for the Modern Barber (150+ Hours)

Topics Covered: Hair Coloring, Bleaching & Chemical Mixing; Mustache & Beard Coloring; Chemical Hair Relaxing & Straightening; Scalp and Strand Testing; Safety Procedures for Chemical Applications.

Learning Outcome: You will confidently perform and correct men's hair color, bleaching, and chemical texture services, expanding your service offerings and increasing your value as a barber.

5. Professional Development & Barbershop Business (100+ Hours)

Topics Covered: TDLR Laws & Rules, Deportment & Professional Ethics, Client Consultation & Communication, Salesmanship & Retail, Shop Management & Operations, Career Preparation, and Building a Clientele.
